What I collect, and why.

Draft. The effective date is set at launch. Foothill Web Works is operated by Chanceatfinance LLC, 25101 The Old Road #102, Stevenson Ranch, CA 91381.

Status: DRAFT. Not published. Goes on `/privacy` together with the terms after the founder's approval (D-####). v1 (the HTML now on the draft site) is in `copy/_v1-2026-10-16/privacy.html`.

What changed from v1: covers all four groups we hold data on (buyers, free-mockup requests, businesses we email, visitors to sites we host); names the tools that see the data (hosting, payments, email, software and cloud service providers); retention periods; California notes (the CalOPPA items: categories, sharing, how to review and correct, Do Not Track, changes, effective date); no text messages.

Plain-language draft, not legal advice, not reviewed by a lawyer. Facts to re-check before publishing: the email host (Namecheap Private Email per `state/pipeline/ventures/fww.yaml`) and whether the new site adds a visit counter (if it sets a cookie, add it to "Cookies").

Effective date: {effective_date}

Foothill Web Works is run by Chanceatfinance LLC, 25101 The Old Road #102, Stevenson Ranch, CA 91381 ("we", "us"). This page explains what we collect, why, who else sees it, and the choices you have.

What we collect

If you buy a website or a care plan:

  • Your name, business name, email and phone number.
  • What you send for your site: hours, address, services, the lines about your business, your logo, photos, links and your domain name.
  • Payment details are collected by Stripe. We see your name, email, the amount, and the card brand and last 4 digits. We never see or store your full card number.
  • The emails we exchange about your project.

If you ask for a free mockup:

  • Your business name, email and your current website, if you give it. We also look at public information about your business (your website, listings and photos you've posted) to make the mockup.

If we email your business about our services:

  • Your business name and the business contact details shown on your public website or public listings, plus notes about your public website that we use to make our email relevant.

If you visit our site, or a site we host for a client:

  • Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs (such as IP address, browser type and the pages requested) to run and secure the site.
  • Messages sent through a client's contact form are passed to that client's email and stored by our hosting provider. We handle them only to deliver them to the client.

How we use it

  • To build, host and look after your website, and to email you about your project, your plan and your bills.
  • To make a free mockup you asked for.
  • To send a small number of one-to-one sales emails to businesses. Every one includes a way to opt out.
  • To keep our records, meet our legal duties and prevent fraud.

We do not sell your information, and we do not share it with anyone for their own advertising.

Who else sees it

We use a few service providers that see your information only to do their job for us:

  • Netlify: hosts our site and client sites, receives form submissions, and stores files.
  • Stripe: takes payments and runs the billing page where you manage a care plan.
  • Namecheap Private Email: our email.
  • Software and cloud service providers that help us write and build your site from the content you send.

We may also share information if the law requires it, or to protect our rights or someone's safety.

Cookies

Our site doesn't use advertising cookies or third-party tracking pixels. Stripe may set cookies on its own checkout and billing pages to process payments and prevent fraud. Our site doesn't respond to "Do Not Track" browser signals because it doesn't track you across other websites.

How long we keep it

  • Client project files: while your site is with us, plus 1 year. Payment and tax records: 7 years, because the law requires it.
  • Free mockups and the information used to make them: deleted 90 days after we send the mockup if you don't buy.
  • Business contact details for sales emails: deleted 12 months after our last email if you don't reply.
  • Opt-outs: we keep only the email address and business name, so we never email you again.
  • Records that you agreed to a care plan's renewal terms: 3 years, or 1 year after the plan ends, whichever is longer, as California law requires.

Email opt-out

Every sales email has an unsubscribe link, or you can reply "unsubscribe". We then stop emailing every address at your business and keep only the opt-out record described above. We never send text messages.

Your choices

You can ask to see, correct or delete the information we hold about you, or to stop any email from us, at any time. Email chance@foothillwebworks.com and we'll reply within 1 business day and finish the request within 30 days. We may need to keep some records (like payment records) when the law requires it.

California residents

We're a small business and the California Consumer Privacy Act's size limits don't currently apply to us, but we honor the requests above for everyone. We don't sell or share personal information for cross-context advertising, and we don't share it with others for their direct marketing.

Children

Our services are for businesses. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 16.

Changes

If we change this policy, we post the new version here with a new effective date. If the change matters for current clients, we also email them.
