Terms of service
The terms, in plain words.
Draft. The effective date is set at launch. Foothill Web Works is operated by Chanceatfinance LLC, 25101 The Old Road #102, Stevenson Ranch, CA 91381.
Status: DRAFT. Not published. Waits for the founder's approval (D-####, text in `terms-decision-request.md`). On approval, WP-B or WP-G puts this text on `/terms` with the effective date, and the "Waits for the terms" rules in `copy/approved-facts.md` go live. v1 (the HTML now on the draft site) is in `copy/_v1-2026-10-16/terms.html`.
What changed from v1: domain registration on the client's behalf is gone (client owns and buys the domain); 12 months of hosting is included and what happens after it; a refund rule and a late-draft rule, so no money question needs a person; small edits and revision rounds are defined; Growth matches approved facts; California auto-renewal terms for care plans; email-only contact; liability cap, governing law, and how the terms change.
This is a plain-language draft written from the approved offer, not legal advice. It has not been reviewed by a lawyer.

Effective date: {effective_date}
Foothill Web Works is run by Chanceatfinance LLC, 25101 The Old Road #102, Stevenson Ranch, CA 91381 ("we", "us"). These terms cover the websites we build and the care plans we offer. You ("you") accept them when you tick the box at checkout and pay.
1. What we do
We design and build a website for your business (the "Site") from the content you send us (logo, photos, business details and a few lines about your business). We write the words, and you approve every word and photo before anything goes live.
We use software tools and service providers to design and build your Site.
Everything happens by email and on our site. We don't do calls or meetings. Reply to any of our emails and you'll hear back within 1 business day. "Business day" means Monday to Friday, Pacific time, not counting US federal holidays.
2. Plans and prices
| Plan | Price | Draft ready in | Free revision rounds |
| :-- | :-- | :-- | :-- |
| One page | $500 | 24 hours | 1 |
| Up to 5 pages | $1,000 | 48 hours | 2 |
- Every build includes: your logo and colors, your photos, a contact form that emails you, a basic setup for search engines, and 12 months of hosting (section 6).
- No sales tax is added to these prices.
- Prices are fixed. We don't offer discounts, custom prices or rush fees, and we may decline work that isn't one of these plans.
3. Payment
- Half is due before we start (the deposit): $250 for One page, $500 for Up to 5 pages.
- The other half (the balance) is due when you approve the final site, and the Site goes live after it's paid.
- Payments are made by card through Stripe. We never see or store your full card number.
4. The build clock
- The clock starts when your deposit is paid and we have your photos, logo and a few lines about your business. If we're waiting on you, the clock pauses.
- "Draft ready" means we email you a private link to review the Site within the time in section 2.
- Late draft: if your first draft link is more than 24 hours later than the time in section 2, you don't pay the balance. Your Site still goes live once you approve it.
5. Revisions
- A revision round is one list of changes you send at once from your review page. Changes stay inside the plan you bought (the same number of pages and the same features).
- Each round comes back within 2 business days. If a request is unclear, we email you one question before we start.
- Extra rounds are $250 each, paid before that round starts.
- After you approve the Site, further changes are made through a care plan (section 7).
6. Hosting and going live
- After you approve and pay the balance, the Site goes live the same day on a free web address we provide.
- Your domain: you buy your domain in your own name, from any registrar. We never buy, hold or pay for your domain, and we never ask for your registrar password. We email you the 2 records to add, and the Site moves to your domain once they're in.
- Hosting for the first 12 months after go-live is included. It covers hosting, security, backups and keeping the Site up.
- When the 12 months end, you choose: keep hosting with us on the Basic plan ($49 a month), or move the Site anywhere. Nothing starts charging on its own. We email you 30 days and 7 days before the 12 months end.
- If you don't choose, the Site stays up for 30 more days, then we take it offline and email you a copy of the Site files.
- Moving: ask any time and we'll email you a copy of the Site files and steps to host them elsewhere within 2 business days. The contact form runs on our hosting provider, so a moved Site needs a new form service.
7. Monthly care plans (optional)
| Plan | Price | What's included |
| :-- | :-- | :-- |
| Basic | $49 a month | Hosting, security, backups, and keeping the Site up |
| Standard | $99 a month | Basic, plus up to 2 small edits a month, plus a monthly check that the form and links work |
| Growth | $199 a month | Standard, plus 1 new page or section a month, plus a short monthly report on visits and calls |
- A small edit is one request that changes words, hours, prices, contact details, links or up to 5 photos on one existing page. A new page or section, a new feature, a layout change or a redesign is not a small edit. Small edits are done within 2 business days. Unused edits don't carry over to the next month.
- Growth's new page or section is built from your information in the same style as the Site, one per month, and doesn't carry over. It doesn't add an online store, bookings, logins or payments.
- The monthly report counts visits, taps on your phone number and form messages.
Automatic renewal. Care plans renew automatically every month at the price shown at checkout until you cancel. You're charged on the day you sign up and then on the same day each month. Before you pay, the checkout page shows these renewal terms, and you must tick a box to agree to them. Right after you sign up, we email you the plan terms and how to cancel. We also email you a reminder once a year.
Cancelling. Cancel any time online with the billing link in any care plan email. You don't need to call or write to us. Your plan stops at the end of the month you've paid for, and there are no refunds for part of a month. What happens to the Site after you cancel: during the included 12 months of hosting, it stays up until they end; after that, it stays up for 30 days past the end of your paid month, then we take it offline and email you the files.
Late payments. If a care plan payment fails, we email you a link to update your card. After 14 days we pause edits and checks (the Site stays up). After 30 days the plan is cancelled.
Price changes. If we change a care plan price, we email you 7 to 30 days before the change, with a link to cancel before it applies.
8. Refunds
- Before your first draft link is sent: ask for a refund any time and we return your deposit in full.
- If we never get your photos and information, the project closes after 60 days and we refund your deposit.
- Once your first draft link is sent, the deposit is earned and isn't refundable.
- The balance isn't charged until you approve the Site.
- If we decline your project after you've paid, we refund everything you've paid.
- Refunds go back to the card you paid with, through Stripe, within 5 business days of the request.
9. Quiet projects
If you don't reply to your draft link, or don't pay the balance, for 30 days, we close the project. The deposit is kept and the draft stays private. Reply within 90 days to reopen it where you left off.
10. Your content
- You confirm that you own, or have the right to use, the logo, photos and text you send us, and that your business information is accurate.
- If you need more photos, we may suggest licensed stock photos. Nothing goes on the Site without your approval.
- We don't build sites for illegal products or services, and we may decline any project.
11. Ownership
- Once you've paid in full, you own the finished Site and its content, including the words we wrote for you and the design made for you.
- We keep the rights to our general tools, templates and know-how, and you get a permanent right to use them as part of your Site.
- We may show your Site as a sample of our work, unless you email us and ask us not to.
12. What we don't promise
We build the Site with care and to the timelines above. We don't promise any amount of traffic, calls, leads or sales, or any position in Google or other search engines. Websites can go down for reasons outside our control (for example, an outage at our hosting provider). We'll work to restore the Site quickly, but we're not responsible for losses caused by downtime.
13. Limit on liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, our total liability for any claim about the Site or a care plan is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. We're not liable for lost profits or indirect losses.
14. Ending the agreement
You can stop at any point under the refund and cancel rules above. We may end a care plan with 30 days' notice by email; if we do, we email you the Site files. If you break these terms (for example, by sending content you don't have the right to use), we may take the Site offline.
15. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The new version and its date go on this page. If a change affects a care plan you're on, we email you at least 7 days before it applies, and you can cancel before then.
16. Law and disputes
California law applies. Any dispute goes to the state courts in Los Angeles County, California, or to small claims court.
